Taylor Swift has returned to the top of the U.S. albums chart with “The Life of a Showgirl,” extending the album’s run at No. 1 to 13 nonconsecutive weeks.

The comeback follows the release of “The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore,” an expanded edition featuring four new bonus tracks. It is the album’s first week back at the summit since the chart week ending Jan. 10, 2026, when it completed its 12th week at No. 1.

Originally released in October 2025, “The Life of a Showgirl” led the chart through much of the Christmas buying season. Its latest surge arrives in the 52nd chart week for all versions of the album.

A streaming-powered return

“The Encore” generated 173,000 equivalent album units in its first week. Streaming drove the bulk of that total, with 136,000 SEA units representing 138.79 million official on-demand streams, Luminate figures show.

Album sales contributed 21,000 units. Swift has not yet offered physical copies of the expanded set, leaving purchases limited to a digital download.

Interest in the deluxe release was also supported by the high-profile video for “Patient Zero,” one of the new tracks. Costarring Dakota Johnson and Colin Farrell, the video premiered during the MTV Video Music Awards last Sunday night.

“Patient Zero” is also expected to open at No. 1 on the U.S. singles chart. That result remains unconfirmed, however, with the chart’s top 10 scheduled to be released Monday.

The album’s 13th week at No. 1 further separates “The Life of a Showgirl” from most of Swift’s other chart-topping releases. It already ranked as her second-longest-running No. 1 album before this latest week.

“The Tortured Poets Department” holds Swift’s personal record with 17 weeks atop the albums chart. “1989” and “Fearless” are tied at 11 weeks each.

A tight race between two new arrivals

Below Swift, two other albums made top 10 debuts in a closely fought contest decided by only a few hundred equivalent units.

Tinashe’s “Popstar” enters at No. 6 with 35,500 units, narrowly finishing ahead of Kenny Chesney’s “Silver Sands Marina,” which debuts at No. 7 with 35,000.

Chesney’s opening-week total comes as his single “Carry On” reached No. 1 at country radio. The song is his record-extending 34th chart-topper at that format.

Olivia Rodrigo holds the runner-up position with “You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl in Love,” which earned 67,000 units. Albums from Ella Langley, Morgan Wallen and Noah Kahan occupy Nos. 3, 4 and 5, respectively.

Olivia Dean lands at No. 8, while Kahan’s earlier album “Stick Season” sits at No. 9. With two releases in the upper tier, Kahan is currently the only artist represented twice in the albums chart’s top 10. Drake rounds out the list at No. 10.

Meanwhile, last week’s chart leader, Miley’s “Bass Persuades,” has fallen out of the top 10. Its precise new position has not yet been disclosed because only the week’s top 10 albums are released on Sunday, with the remainder of the 200-position chart following in the days afterward.

What Happens Next?

Swift’s attention now shifts to Monday’s singles chart announcement, when “Patient Zero” is expected to make its bid for the crown. The full albums chart will also reveal where “Bass Persuades” landed after leaving the top 10.
