Prime Video has renewed “Reacher” for Season 6 while production on the Alan Ritchson-led action drama’s fifth season is still underway.
The early renewal, announced Monday, extends the series beyond its current production cycle and follows the recent completion of Season 4. Ritchson stars as Jack Reacher in the adaptation of Lee Child’s novels.
Peter Friedlander, head of global television for Amazon MGM Studios, praised the creative team, Ritchson and the studio’s production partners while confirming the sixth-season pickup.
“‘Reacher’ hits hard,” Friedlander said in a statement. “What Lee Child has built and Nick Santora and his creative teams have brought to life is, simply, incredible. Alan Ritchson is Jack Reacher — he’s delivered a performance that has captivated audiences around the world.”
He continued: “Together with our partners at Paramount Television Studios, we couldn’t be more excited to continue this journey. ‘Reacher’ is a truly iconic series, and we’re thrilled to be on the ride with this extraordinary cast and crew for Season 6.”
Season 5 Is Currently Filming in Toronto
Before the newly ordered season arrives, “Reacher” still has its fifth chapter to complete. Season 5 is currently filming in Toronto and will follow the events of “Make Me,” the 20th book in Child’s Reacher series.
The Season 6 renewal comes after an eight-episode fourth season that premiered on August 12. Its finale began streaming on September 16.
Season 4 drew its storyline from Child’s “Gone Tomorrow.” Alongside Ritchson, the season’s cast included Sydelle Noel, Agnez Mo, Chris Marquette, Anggun, Marc Blucas, Kevin Weisman, Kathleen Robertson and Kevin Corrigan.
The decision to continue the show guarantees that the fifth-season adaptation will not be the end of Prime Video’s run with Jack Reacher. However, the confirmed details focus on the renewal itself, with Season 5 still in production.
“Neagley” Has Also Arrived
Prime Video has also expanded the “Reacher” story through the spin-off “Neagley,” starring Maria Sten in the title role. All eight episodes of its first season were released on September 16, the same date the “Reacher” Season 4 finale began streaming.
What Happens Next?
Production continues on “Reacher” Season 5 in Toronto, with “Make Me” providing the basis for the upcoming storyline. After that, the series will move forward into its newly confirmed sixth season, continuing the collaboration among Amazon MGM Studios, Paramount Television Studios, Child, showrunner Nick Santora and the show’s creative team.
