Rosamund Pike is taking on two roles behind and in front of the camera for “Feed,” a new body horror movie inspired by the 2022 Finnish film “Hatching.” Pike will star in the project and produce through her Primitive Streak banner.

The film brings Pike together with “The Acolyte” director Leslye Headland and screenwriter Daniella Isaacs. Its story combines a mother’s ambitions for her daughter with the darker side of online fame and self-improvement culture.

The official logline reads: “When a desperate mother discovers an obscure collagen supplement that promises to make her tween gymnast daughter an influencer star, the fame and success they crave come fast. But as her daughter goes viral, she begins a monstrous transformation.”

A Body Horror Story Built Around Modern Obsessions

For Pike, “Feed” offers a chance to confront several subjects she has long wanted to explore on screen, including social media, the pursuit of recognition and the pressures surrounding motherhood.

“Long have I wanted to make a film that plays anarchically with our obsession with social media and self-improvement, our desire for fame without notable admirable skill and, let’s put it out there, the monstrosity of modern motherhood,” Pike said. “‘Feed’ deals with all these things.”

Those themes sit at the center of the film’s transformation narrative. The mother and daughter quickly achieve the attention and success they wanted, but the girl’s viral breakthrough is accompanied by a physical change described as monstrous.

Headland praised both Isaacs’ screenplay and Pike’s willingness to enter the story’s more unsettling territory.

“Daniella’s script is audacious, disturbing and deeply human and Rosamund is among the boldest actors working today,” Headland said. “I couldn’t ask for better partners to take on the darker corners of this story and I feel incredibly lucky to be making this film with two women whose work I admire so much.”

The Producing and Sales Team

Pike joins a producing group that includes Shelley Browning for Magnolia Entertainment, Steven Schneider for Spooky Pictures, Ara Keshishian and Petr Jakl for ZQ Entertainment, and Sam Ritzenberg for Agile Films.

ZQ Entertainment financed the project’s development. The Veterans will represent international sales rights, while CAA Media Finance will handle the United States. Sales are set to commence at the American Film Market.

Pike is represented by CAA, United Agents and Magnolia Entertainment. Headland is represented by CAA and Sugar23, while Isaacs is represented by Curtis Brown Group.

ShowBiz Take

“Feed” stands out because its horror premise is directly tied to recognizable ambitions: physical improvement, social media visibility and rapid fame. The official synopsis does not treat the daughter’s online success as a distant possibility; it arrives quickly, just as the consequences begin to surface.

Pike’s involvement as both star and producer also makes her creative investment in the material especially clear. Her statement identifies the project as an opportunity to address subjects she has wanted to examine for some time, while Headland’s comments emphasize that Isaacs’ script is intended to remain human even as it moves into disturbing territory.

The “Hatching” inspiration provides the project with a confirmed body horror foundation, but “Feed” has its own stated focus: a desperate mother, a tween gymnast, an obscure collagen supplement and the pursuit of influencer celebrity. That combination gives the film a sharply defined route into its themes without revealing how the daughter’s transformation ultimately unfolds.

What Happens Next?

The next confirmed step is the launch of sales at the American Film Market, with The Veterans overseeing international rights and CAA Media Finance handling the U.S. The project’s development has already been financed by ZQ Entertainment.
