Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath’s final concert is officially headed to cinemas.
The concert film, now titled “Ozzy & Black Sabbath: Back to the Beginning,” will be released in theaters worldwide on Oct. 28, giving fans a big-screen version of the Birmingham farewell that took place shortly before Osbourne’s death.
Ben Wainwright-Pearce directs the film. He previously helmed “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” for Disney+. According to the announcement, the theatrical presentation is being positioned as a “fully immersive audio-visual experience.”
The concert was filmed in Birmingham, U.K., 17 days before Osbourne died. The event served as both a return home and a final public goodbye for the heavy metal figure, with Osbourne performing a solo set and also reuniting with original Black Sabbath members Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward. It marked the first time in 20 years that Osbourne had performed with those original Black Sabbath bandmates.
Sharon Osbourne, Ozzy’s wife and manager, said the idea behind “Back to the Beginning” came directly from a conversation with him about what he most wanted.
“‘Back to the Beginning’ came about because I asked Ozzy what would really make him happy,” Sharon Osbourne said in a statement. “And he said the only thing that would make him happy was if he could perform again and say goodbye to his fans. That’s all he wanted to do. He wanted to say goodbye and thank you.”
Osbourne died on July 22, 2025, following a yearslong struggle with Parkinson’s disease.
The July 5 concert at Villa Park stadium in Birmingham drew 42,000 attendees in person, with another 3 million watching through a paid livestream. Jason Momoa hosted the event, which also featured performances from a lineup of metal and alternative artists, including Disturbed’s David Draiman, Halestorm, Travis Barker, Steven Tyler of Aerosmith, Slayer, Pantera, Tool and Alice in Chains.
Tim van Someren directed the live concert. Jim Parsons, Jamie Silk and Dan Seliger produced the concert, while Mercury Studios produced the film.
Trafalgar Releasing is handling distribution for “Ozzy & Black Sabbath: Back to the Beginning.” Tickets are scheduled to go on sale Sept. 24 through backtothebeginning.com.
Marc Allenby, CEO of Trafalgar Releasing, described the original concert as “a landmark cultural moment” and said the theatrical release is intended to extend its reach.
“Bringing it to cinemas worldwide is an opportunity to further cement Ozzy’s legacy and impact,” Allenby said. “We are really looking forward to giving fans around the world a chance to experience this final celebration of Ozzy and Black Sabbath together on the big screen.”

With the release date now set, the next key date for fans is Sept. 24, when tickets are due to become available. The film will then roll out in theaters worldwide on Oct. 28.
