The newly released extended trailer, presented as part of Capcom Spotlight TGS 2026, introduces Ascendance as an upcoming expansion that will take players back into the world of Monster Hunter Wilds with fresh threats, a new locale and an escalation into Master Rank.
The expansion is currently slated for release in 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2.
According to the official description, Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance begins with the attack of a massive Elder Dragon, an event that signals major change across the Forbidden Lands — not only on the ground, but in the skies as well. As danger builds, the Expedition prepares for what lies ahead while familiar Elder Dragons and previously undiscovered Elder Dragons begin to emerge.
The trailer also teases what the description calls “a disturbing new threat” prowling the land. Viewers are also encouraged to stay through the end of the footage for a glimpse of a fiery foe, suggesting the extended cut saves one of its key reveals for its final moments.
A Master Rank Expansion
Ascendance is positioned as a major expansion built around Master Rank, with the hunt moving to what the official materials describe as “new heights.” The expansion will include new monsters and challenges, along with evolved hunting actions and mechanics.
The official details also confirm that the expansion will introduce a new locale and continue the Expedition Team’s story, making Ascendance both a gameplay expansion and a narrative continuation for the action RPG.
For now, the confirmed release window remains 2027, with Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance planned for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2.
