Josh Goldstine is expected to take on an expansive new role at Skydance, overseeing theatrical film marketing and distribution across Warner Bros., Paramount Pictures and the company’s other film labels.
The planned structure places several Warner Bros. executives under Goldstine’s leadership. He has met with marketing executives Dana Nussbaum, Christian Davin and John Stanford, as well as Jeff Goldstein, president of global theatrical distribution, according to a knowledgeable insider. All four are set to report to Goldstine.
Representatives for Warner Bros. Pictures and Paramount had no immediate comment on the matter.
A swift return to Warner Bros.
The new assignment would mark a striking comeback for Goldstine, who previously served as Warner Bros.’ president of worldwide marketing. He departed the studio in January 2025 after four years, when then-Warner Bros. motion picture chiefs Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy abruptly dismissed him.
His exit followed a turbulent 2024 slate for the studio. Warner Bros. released box-office disappointments including “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” and “Joker: Folie à Deux,” while also delivering blockbuster successes with “Dune: Part Two,” “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire” and “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.”
Goldstine subsequently joined Paramount in October 2025 as president of worldwide marketing and distribution. In that position, he reported to Paramount Pictures co-chairs Josh Greenstein and Dana Goldberg. His arrival came after David Ellison acquired the company in August 2025.
The latest move significantly broadens that Paramount role, giving Goldstine responsibility for marketing and distribution across the theatrical film operations now gathered under Skydance, including his former studio.
Skydance’s leadership structure takes shape
Goldstine’s expected promotion comes as Ellison installs the leadership team for his newly expanded entertainment company. Ellison officially closed the deal for Warner Bros. on Tuesday, one day after laying out the executive structure for the combined operation.
Ynon Kreiz was unveiled as Ellison’s co-CEO. Greenstein and Goldberg, to whom Goldstine reported at Paramount, have been named co-chairs of Skydance Motion Picture Group and will oversee both Warner Bros. and Paramount.
James Gunn and Peter Safran will remain in place as co-chairs of DC Studios.
On the television and direct-to-consumer side, George Cheeks was confirmed as co-chair and chief content officer of Skydance TV. Casey Bloys was named co-chair and chief content officer, while JB Perrette will serve as co-chair and chief business officer of both Skydance TV and Skydance DTC. Perrette previously held the title of CEO and president of global streaming and games at Warner Bros. Discovery.
Goldstine’s new remit would connect the theatrical marketing and distribution teams across the Warner Bros. and Paramount businesses under a single executive. The reporting arrangement involving Nussbaum, Davin, Stanford and Goldstein also provides the first clear indication of how Warner Bros.’ existing film marketing and distribution leadership will fit into Skydance’s broader structure.
