Jack Antonoff and Margaret Qualley have jointly filed for divorce after three years of marriage.

Court records show that the 14-time Grammy-winning producer and the Substance star submitted an uncontested, pre-packaged divorce settlement on Friday, Oct. 30. Billboard, which confirmed the filing, has contacted representatives for both Antonoff and Qualley for comment.

The legal move comes roughly three months after their separation became public in July. Before that confirmation, breakup speculation had grown after Antonoff attended Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding with his sister, Rachel Antonoff, rather than Qualley.

Fans had also noticed that wedding photos Qualley previously shared on Instagram appeared to have been removed from her feed ahead of news of the split.

Antonoff addressed the breakup through music

In recent weeks, Antonoff has made several public references to the end of the marriage. When a fan asked him to perform the 2017 song “Let’s Get Married” during a September concert in Los Angeles, the Bleachers frontman responded, “Read the news, brother.”

Earlier in October, Antonoff told The Guardian that he had initially been “worried” about continuing to perform songs written about Qualley after their relationship ended. His feelings shifted once he returned to those songs on tour, with Antonoff saying “it’s actually been really beautiful” to perform them.

Music and film had repeatedly intersected throughout the couple’s relationship. In August 2025, Antonoff released the soundtrack for director Ethan Coen’s dark comedy Honey Don’t!, which co-starred Qualley and Aubrey Plaza. It was the first time Antonoff had worked on music for a film featuring his wife. Qualley also appeared on the soundtrack under her musical alter ego, Lace Manhattan.

Qualley was the inspiration for “Margaret,” the love song featured on Lana Del Rey’s 2023 album Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd. Antonoff co-wrote and co-produced the track.

She also appeared in two Bleachers videos. Qualley made a cameo earlier this year in the “You and Forever” video from the band’s Everyone for Ten Minutes album. The clip featured her dancing in a white negligee and later spinning through a room in a fitted black dress, while scenes of an agitated Antonoff showed him moving through the street and crawling through a rainstorm.

In 2024, Qualley appeared in the video for “Tiny Moves,” which she choreographed and co-directed. That project was filmed only weeks before the couple’s wedding.

From a 2021 meeting to an August 2023 wedding

Antonoff and Qualley were first seen kissing in 2021. That was four years after Antonoff’s 2017 breakup with Girls creator Lena Dunham.

Antonoff and Qualley later made their official public debut at the AFI Awards Luncheon in 2022. They married in Antonoff’s native New Jersey in August 2023, with guests including Swift, Del Rey, Channing Tatum, Zoë Kravitz and Cara Delevingne. Qualley’s mother, actress Andie MacDowell, also attended.

During an interview with Howard Stern on his SiriusXM radio show earlier this year, Antonoff said he knew immediately that he wanted to marry Qualley after meeting her at a party in 2021.

“I saw her and it was like a f—ing Hallmark movie that doesn’t seem believable,” Antonoff told Stern. “When I met her, I started imagining things that I’d never even imagined, like marriage.”

Antonoff said in the same interview that he proposed while he and Qualley were living in Paris. Before doing so, he called her sister Rainey Qualley for her blessing. Rainey is an actress and singer who records under the name Rainsford.

ShowBiz Take

The joint, uncontested filing gives formal shape to a split that had already surfaced through public appearances, social-media changes and Antonoff’s comments from the stage and in interviews.

It is especially notable because Qualley was woven into several parts of Antonoff’s recent creative life. She appeared in Bleachers videos, performed on the Honey Don’t! soundtrack under her Lace Manhattan persona and inspired a song Antonoff helped create with Del Rey.

Antonoff’s acknowledgment that he was concerned about performing relationship-inspired material also highlights the personal question now attached to that body of work. For the moment, however, he has described returning to those songs on tour as a positive experience, even as the former couple proceeds with ending their marriage.
