Disney is raising the monthly prices of Disney+ and Hulu, with the ad-free version of each standalone service climbing to $21.49.
That represents a $2.50 increase, or 13 percent, for both ad-free plans. The ad-supported Disney+ and Hulu tiers will each rise by 50 cents to $12.49 per month, a more modest increase of about 4 percent.
The changes make subscribing to Disney+ and Hulu separately significantly more expensive than taking the two services as a package. Two individual ad-free subscriptions will cost a combined $42.98 per month, compared with $21.99 for the corresponding bundle.
The same dynamic applies to the cheaper, ad-supported options. Paying for both services separately will total $24.98 per month, while the Disney+/Hulu bundle with ads will cost $12.99.
Disney+ and Hulu bundles are also getting price hikes
Although the bundles retain their substantial price advantage, they are not escaping the latest increases. The ad-free Disney+/Hulu package is going up by $2 per month to $21.99, while the ad-supported bundle will rise by 50 cents to $12.99.
At those rates, either bundle will cost only 50 cents more than a single standalone subscription at the equivalent ad level. The gap means customers who want access to both Disney+ and Hulu will pay close to twice as much if they maintain separate subscriptions instead of bundling them.
The widening difference fits Disney’s established pricing strategy. For several years, the company has used its rates to encourage customers to combine Disney+ and Hulu, with subscribers on bundled plans tending to be less likely to cancel.
Outside of promotional offers, the new prices bring the discount for bundling the two services closer to 50 percent than it has ever been. That makes the packages an increasingly prominent part of the company’s subscription pricing, even as the monthly cost of those packages continues to rise.
Fourth annual increase for both services
The latest hikes arrive exactly one year after Disney+ and Hulu last announced increases in their monthly rates. They also mark the fourth price increase in as many years for the two streaming services.
The sharpest movement is concentrated in the ad-free standalone plans. While the ad-supported tiers are rising by just 50 cents each, the $2.50 jump for Disney+ and Hulu without ads pushes both services above $21 per month.
The increases are also part of a broader pattern of streaming inflation. Since 2022, streaming prices have risen at roughly three times the rate of inflation overall.
Even after the new Disney+ and Hulu rates take effect, Netflix’s premium plan remains the most expensive individual streaming subscription at $26.99 per month. That price is four dollars higher than the top HBO Max tier.
For Disney+ and Hulu customers, however, the clearest impact is the growing divide between standalone and bundled pricing. Subscribers who want only one service will face higher monthly bills, while those who want both are being offered a package priced at nearly half the cost of paying for the two separately.
