Yung Miami says her latest attempt to secure a Drake collaboration ended without an answer.

During a visit to Hot 97 promoting her solo debut album, Watch Dis, the City Girls rapper revealed that she contacted Drake about contributing a verse to a remix of her platinum-certified “Spend Dat.” According to Miami, he read her message but did not respond.

“Drake left me on read, I don’t know. I’m like, ‘Drake, what did I do?’ I love Drake. I f—king love Drake,” she said. “Just tell me no. I’m good with a no, but leaving me on read?”

The silence did not stop the 32-year-old from making clear that she remains a fan. Miami continued praising Drake while acknowledging that experiences within the music industry can affect how people approach others.

“I just respect Drake. Drake is Drake, period,” she said. “I’ve always been a Drake fan, always gave him his flowers, personally love Drake, never rode the hate train. I personally love him, but I get it. When you go through things in the industry, that sh-t’ll make you look at everybody differently.”

Another Drake Request Fell Short

The “Spend Dat” outreach was not Miami’s first effort to bring Drake onto one of her records. During a June appearance on Cam Newton’s Funky Friday podcast, she discussed messaging him about “Take Me to Chanel.” The track ultimately appeared on Watch Dis with Quavo and G Herbo.

Miami said she believed Drake would fit the song, but the exchange did not produce a verse. This time, she said, he acknowledged the message with a “like.”

“I was like, Drake, I think you would sound good on ‘Take Me to Chanel.’ He just liked the thing. He just liked the message,” she recalled. “I’m like, come on now, don’t do that, Drake. Don’t do that now. Because, when you called me, I was there. But nah, I f—k with Drake. I understand.”

She also explained that she did not take that interaction personally, saying Drake was dealing with his own situation at the time.

“When people are going through their sh-t, like, I get it. I understand,” Miami said. “It’s just like, ‘I gotta focus on me right now,’ because these people trying to take me out. I can understand that, so I didn’t take it personally.”

“Spend Dat” Moved Ahead Without Drake

Although Drake did not join “Spend Dat,” Miami still assembled two different remixes featuring other major guests. Kodak Black and Lil Baby appeared on one version, which reached No. 17 on the Billboard Hot 100. Vybz Kartel and Shenseea were recruited for an international remix of the track.

Miami and Drake also have an established recording connection dating back to 2018. Drake featured City Girls members JT and Miami on “In My Feelings,” from Scorpion. They also appeared in the visual for the song, which reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

That history adds another layer to Miami’s frustration: she has previously appeared on one of Drake’s biggest charting releases, but her recent requests for him to return the favor have not resulted in a new collaboration.

For now, Miami is turning her attention to Watch Dis, which arrived Friday, Oct. 23. In addition to Quavo and G Herbo, the solo debut includes guest appearances from Rick Ross, Travis Scott, Bryson Tiller and others.

ShowBiz Take

Yung Miami’s account is less a public feud than a candid look at an unanswered collaboration pitch. She openly admitted being bothered by the lack of a direct response, yet repeatedly emphasized her respect for Drake and said she understood why an artist navigating industry pressures might keep the focus on himself.

Most importantly, “Spend Dat” did not stall without the requested verse. Its Kodak Black and Lil Baby remix became a top 20 Hot 100 hit, while the Vybz Kartel and Shenseea version expanded the song’s roster of collaborators. Drake may have left Miami waiting, but the record continued moving without him.
