The Strokes are heading back to Australia in 2027, with four east coast concerts lined up in support of the U.S. rock band’s latest studio album, Reality Awaits.
The three-city run will begin Saturday, Feb. 13 at Brisbane Entertainment Centre before moving to Melbourne for two nights at Rod Laver Arena on Tuesday, Feb. 16 and Wednesday, Feb. 17. The tour will finish Saturday, Feb. 20 at the inaugural Sydney Summertime event in Centennial Park.
The newly announced dates will be the band’s first Australian headline shows since its sold-out 2022 run. The Strokes have performed in the country more recently, however, headlining Adelaide’s Harvest Rock festival in 2025.
Special guests confirmed
Courtney Barnett and Promiseland will appear as special guests at the Brisbane and Melbourne concerts. Promiseland is the project of Johann Rashid and is signed to frontman Julian Casablancas’ Cult Records.
The Sydney Summertime lineup will expand further, with Beck joining The Strokes, Barnett and Promiseland for the Centennial Park show.
The Australian tour was announced Thursday, Sept. 24 and is being produced by Secret Sounds and Live Nation, with support from Double J.
The shows extend an international touring campaign that has already taken The Strokes through North America and Japan. The band still has dates across the United Kingdom, Europe and South America ahead of the Australian leg.
Reality Awaits adds to the band’s Australian chart run
Released through Cult Records and RCA Records, Reality Awaits debuted at No. 10 on the ARIA Albums Chart in July. Six of The Strokes’ seven studio albums have reached the Australian top 10, with 2011’s Angles climbing to No. 1.
The latest album was recorded in Costa Rica with producer Rick Rubin and completed in locations around the world. It includes the singles “Going Shopping” and “Falling Out of Love,” and peaked at No. 13 on the U.S. albums chart.
