Disney and Hulu have released the first full trailer for The Remarried Empress, setting the stage for a royal K-drama built around betrayal, remarriage and a high-stakes shift in power.

The trailer, which dropped Wednesday, opens with a pointed question from its empress: “For the first time, I began to wonder — Do I love my husband?” The line frames the central fracture in the 10-episode Korean romantacy series, which is scheduled to begin streaming Nov. 4.
Shin Min-a leads the series as Navier, the beloved empress of the fictional Eastern Kingdom. Her marriage to Emperor Sovieshu, played by Ju Ji-hoon, appears carefully ordered until it begins to collapse after he falls for Rashta, a runaway slave newly arrived at court and played by Lee Se-young.
As the court’s romantic and political fault lines widen, Navier becomes increasingly drawn to Crown Prince Heinrey, played by Lee Jong-suk, the heir to the rival Western Kingdom. The central twist arrives when Sovieshu moves to cast Navier aside. Navier agrees, but only on the condition that she be allowed to remarry Heinrey.
That demand turns a broken royal marriage into a potential geopolitical crisis. According to the series’ setup, the fallout threatens not only the relationships among Navier, Sovieshu, Rashta and Heinrey, but also the balance of power between their kingdoms.
The Remarried Empress is adapted from the Naver Webtoon of the same name, which has drawn nearly 3 billion views worldwide. The series is being positioned as one of Disney’s biggest Korean projects to date, with production spanning European locations as well as elaborate purpose-built palace sets.
Behind the camera, Cho Su-won directs the series. His previous credits include I Can Hear Your Voice, Pinocchio and Still 17. The scripts are by Yeoh Geena and Hyun Choong-yeol.
Streaming rollout and festival premiere
The series will debut on Disney+ and Hulu with four episodes on Nov. 4. After that, two new installments will arrive each Wednesday through Nov. 25.
Before the streaming launch, The Remarried Empress will receive its world premiere at the Busan International Film Festival in October. Three episodes, with a combined running time of 151 minutes, will screen in the festival’s On Screen section.
The project is also described as one of Disney+’s most anticipated international titles of 2026, adding another layer of attention around the adaptation as it moves from its popular webtoon origins to a full-scale streaming drama.
What Happens Next?
Viewers will get their first major look at the series at Busan in October, where the opening three episodes are set to screen. The wider streaming rollout begins Nov. 4 on Disney+ and Hulu, with the 10-episode run continuing weekly through Nov. 25.
