Sister Wives returns to TLC this fall with a significant change: Kody and Robyn Brown will not be back for Season 21.
The new season premieres Sunday, Oct. 4, 2026, at 10 p.m. ET/PT on TLC. The network’s recently released trailer indicates that the coming episodes will instead focus primarily on Kody’s former wives Meri, Janelle and Christine.
Neither TLC nor Kody and Robyn have provided a detailed explanation for their departure. Possible factors cited in reports include the program’s increased emphasis on the former wives, potential contract and creative disagreements, and Kody’s previously expressed desire to leave reality television and face less public scrutiny. Those possible explanations have not been confirmed by the network or the couple.
Viewers with cable or satellite can watch the Season 21 premiere live on TLC. Cord-cutters also have several ways to stream the network at airtime or watch on demand later, although the free options are generally limited to eligible new customers signing up for promotional trials.
How to stream Season 21 for free
Philo offers the longest stated trial among the streaming choices carrying TLC. Eligible new subscribers can receive a seven-day free trial of its Essential plan, providing enough time to stream the Sister Wives premiere without paying if they cancel before the trial ends.
Philo’s Essential plan currently costs $25 per month, plus applicable taxes, after the trial. It includes more than 70 live channels, over 75,000 on-demand titles and one year of unlimited DVR storage.
DirecTV is another live-streaming option, with TLC available in HD on channel 280. The network is included in multiple packages, beginning with Entertainment and extending to higher-tier plans.
DirecTV currently advertises a five-day free trial for eligible new streaming-TV customers. A payment method is required, and the account becomes a paid subscription unless it is canceled before the trial period expires.
Hulu + Live TV also carries TLC and may offer eligible subscribers a three-day free trial. Viewers should note that Season 21 will be available through Hulu + Live TV rather than a standard Hulu subscription.
For a limited time, Hulu + Live TV is being offered at $49.99 for one month instead of its regular $99.99 monthly price. The package includes Disney+, ESPN, more than 100 live channels and unlimited DVR.
Sling TV offers TLC, but not a traditional free trial
Sling TV can also be used to watch Sister Wives, though it does not offer a conventional free trial. TLC is included in both the Sling Blue package and the combined Orange & Blue plan.
Sling Blue currently starts at $45.99 per month and carries more than 40 live channels. The Orange & Blue package begins at $60.99 per month. Sling offers short-term passes and a free streaming option with a limited channel lineup, but watching TLC live requires an eligible package. DVR and on-demand viewing options are also available.
When Season 21 premieres
Sister Wives Season 21 begins Sunday, Oct. 4, at 10 p.m. ET/PT. Fans can watch live through TLC on cable or satellite, or stream the network through Philo, DirecTV, Hulu + Live TV and an eligible Sling TV plan.
For viewers hoping to watch without an immediate subscription charge, Philo’s seven-day trial, DirecTV’s five-day offer and Hulu + Live TV’s possible three-day trial provide the available promotional routes, subject to customer eligibility and cancellation terms.
Beyond the viewing options, the biggest change will be on screen. With Kody and Robyn absent, Season 21 is set to place Meri, Janelle and Christine at the center of the series’ next chapter.
