Netflix has set Thursday, November 5 for the return of “Black Doves,” with all six episodes of the spy thriller’s second season arriving on the streamer that day.
Keira Knightley returns as Helen, whose already dangerous double life becomes even more precarious as her husband, Wallace, rises toward the top of the British government. A newly released Season 2 trailer finds Helen as the wife of the U.K. Prime Minister following Wallace’s elevation to the post.
The official synopsis describes Helen as continuing to pass national secrets to the covert organization known as the Black Doves. After the events of the previous Christmas and with Wallace preparing to become Prime Minister, she is said to be “walking a more treacherous line than ever.”
Helen, Sam and Mrs. Reed face new threats
Knightley is joined by Ben Whishaw, known for “A Very English Scandal,” as Helen’s fellow spy Sam. Season 2 finds Sam reduced to solitary drinks in Soho bars and poorly paid assassination jobs.
Sarah Lancashire, known for “Happy Valley,” also appears as Helen’s handler, Mrs. Reed. This time, Mrs. Reed becomes caught in a ruthless scheme intended to weaken her standing within the Black Doves.
As Helen, Sam and Mrs. Reed pursue answers, the season will put loyalties and trust under pressure. The official description warns that their efforts to protect the people they love could come at an enormous cost.
“Family Guy” heads to Hell for Halloween
Elsewhere on the fall schedule, “Family Guy” will deliver a new Halloween special titled “Happy Hell-o-ween.” The special premieres Monday, October 5 exclusively on Hulu.
The story sends Brian and Stewie to Hell — the literal underworld rather than merely an unpleasant day — where they must pay for 24 seasons of bad behavior. The pair eventually manage to irritate the Devil himself and wind up taking charge.
Apple TV unwraps two holiday specials
Apple TV has also dated a pair of seasonal releases for later in the year. “Snoopy Presents: 12 Days of Snoopy” will debut on the streamer Friday, November 13.
In the special, Snoopy discovers that he has landed on Santa’s naughty list. He then sets out to demonstrate that he is not such a bad beagle after all.
“Fraggle Rock: A Holiday Gift” follows on Friday, December 4. Singer and actress Nicole Scherzinger will make an appearance in the holiday special.
“Evil Dead Burn” sets streaming and HBO premieres
Horror film “Evil Dead Burn,” the latest entry in the revived “Evil Dead” franchise, will make its streaming debut Friday, October 2 on HBO Max.
The movie will then receive its linear premiere the following night, Saturday, October 3, at 8 p.m. on HBO.
