Rosé is shifting gears with “New Trick,” her latest single and an accompanying official music video that casts the BLACKPINK singer in a more guitar-charged frame.

The new clip was directed by Dave Meyers, with Taylor Swift, Harry Styles and Kendrick Lamar cited in connection with his work, and was filmed entirely on Apple’s newly unveiled iPhone 18 Pro. The release arrives after Rosé previewed the track earlier this month through Apple’s latest “Shot on iPhone” campaign.

That campaign has previously featured major pop names including The Weeknd with “Dancing in the Flames,” Olivia Rodrigo with “Get Him Back!” and Lady Gaga with “Stupid Love.” Rosé’s entry now adds “New Trick” to that lineup, pairing the single with a high-energy visual that leans into the song’s pop-punk direction.

A pop-punk turn for Rosé

On “New Trick,” Rosé steps into a punchier sound than the sleek pop profile many fans associate with her solo work and BLACKPINK stardom. In the track, she sings: “Maybe I’m emotional, I lay my dreams out on the table, love is unconditional, it disappears just like a rainbow.”

The video matches that restless tone with a series of rebellious, sun-soaked images. Rosé is seen kicking dents into a car door and rehearsing with a full band in a gym. Around her, friends skate into empty swimming pools, bounce on mattresses and channel a carefree California energy.

The result presents Rosé less as a polished pop figure and more as a rock-leaning frontwoman, with “New Trick” positioning her in a louder, scrappier visual lane.

Rosé recently discussed the song in an interview published by Vogue, describing “New Trick” as “possibly the cutest thing” she and songwriter Amy Allen “have ever made together.”

Rosé’s solo momentum continues

“New Trick” follows a major solo run for Rosé. Her 2024 single “APT.,” a collaboration with Bruno Mars, became a top 10 hit, peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and spent 45 weeks on the chart.

The song appeared on Rosé’s debut album, Rosie, which debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard in December 2024.

Rosé’s reach extends well beyond the charts. Born in New Zealand and raised in Melbourne, she was ranked as Australia’s most famous musician and most famous person, according to research published by Rocket Agency. The research cited her global social media audience of more than 156 million followers and “strong online visibility worldwide.”

What Happens Next?

Rosé has indicated that more music is on the way. Speaking to Vogue, she said, “I’ve been working on new music for quite some time now, and I’m still in the process of finding the perfect fine line between the world I want to create, how much of that expresses who I am today, and who I, personally and as a musician, am evolving into.”

She added, “I’m excited to see where this journey continues to take me, what sort of sound resonates [with] me, and to introduce a new era of my music next year.”

For now, “New Trick” gives fans a first look at that evolution — with Rosé trading pop-star gloss for band-room adrenaline, skate-pool chaos and a distinctly rock-star edge.
