Ray J was rushed to the hospital after suffering a medical emergency during a livestream on Thursday, Oct. 1.

The 45-year-old was broadcasting from Fab Factory via the Zeus Network on his Kick account when emergency responders were called to assist him. His mother, Sonja Norwood, was with him at the time.

Footage from the stream showed Ray J shirtless and lying on a couch while medical professionals attended to him. Equipment had been attached to his chest as the fire department and ambulance crews responded.

Although he required emergency treatment, Ray J was able to get up and walk to the stretcher without assistance before he was taken to the hospital.

Ray J has faced several recent health scares

Thursday’s emergency follows multiple hospital visits involving Ray J’s heart and other health concerns earlier in the year.

He was hospitalized in Las Vegas on Jan. 7 with severe pneumonia and heart pain. Ray J returned to the hospital in May after his celebrity fight with Supa Hot Fire, when his heart rate slowed.

Following another hospitalization related to heart issues, Ray J addressed his condition in an Instagram video and thanked supporters who had been praying for him.

“I wanna thank everybody for praying for me,” he said. “I was in the hospital. My heart’s only beating like 25 percent, but as long as I stay focused and stay on the right path, everything will be all right, so thank you for all your prayers.”

Ray J has also publicly linked his heart problems to years of excessive drinking and drug use. During a live video, he said he had overestimated what his body could withstand.

“I f—ed up,” he said. “… I thought I was a big n—a, so I’m like, ‘I can handle all the alcohol, I can handle all the Adderall.’ I could handle all the drugs, I could handle everything, but I couldn’t. My sh– is f—ed up.”

The specific cause of the medical emergency during Thursday’s livestream was not established in the supplied information.
