Oasis documentary “Don’t Look Back in Anger” will premiere exclusively on Disney+ and Hulu on Oct. 9, bringing the reunion of Noel and Liam Gallagher to streaming audiences after its theatrical run.
The film follows the brothers as they reunite and perform together for the first time in 15 years. Alongside the documentary, the platforms will offer new footage from Noel and Liam’s joint interview, as well as complete performances of “Wonderwall” and “Slide Away.” Other songs will also be featured for the first time.
Produced by Magna Studios, “Oasis: Don’t Look Back In Anger” received its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival. It was subsequently released theatrically in the U.K. and Ireland earlier this month.
Inside the Gallagher reunion
The documentary combines never-before-seen material with extensive access to Noel and Liam, whose previously contentious relationship forms part of the reunion story. Writer Steven Knight made the film with directors Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace.
The Oct. 9 streaming launch expands the project beyond its festival and theatrical outings while adding material for viewers on Disney+ and Hulu. The new joint-interview footage and full-song performances will accompany a film centered on the brothers’ return to the stage after their 15-year separation as performers.
Angela Jain, head of content for Disney+ EMEA, described the streaming release and its unseen footage as an opportunity to extend the documentary’s reach.
“The great wait is over…as we now bring ‘Oasis: Don’t Look Back In Anger’ to as many people as possible through Disney+, and to be doing it with exclusive unseen footage too, is so exciting for fans,” Jain said. “The Oasis reunion has been one of our defining cultural moments of recent times. We have seen how the documentary has resonated with audiences around the world as they celebrate the power of Oasis and music through this evocative and moving reunion story.”
The team behind the film
Sam Bridger, whose credits include “Lewis Capaldi: How I’m Feeling Now,” and Guy Heeley, credited on “Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man,” produced the documentary.
Kate Shepherd, Marisa Clifford, Davud Karbassioun, Rob Stringer, Tom Mackay, Krista Wegener, Thomas Benski, Isabel Davis and Tim O’Shea serve as executive producers.
The project was commissioned by Sean Doyle, Disney+ EMEA’s vice president for unscripted.
