About the Movie
A falsely accused war hero with nothing to lose leads police on an epic televised cross-country car chase, helped by members of his former Special Forces Army battalion and closely monitored by a fascinated public rooting for his safe getaway.
Our Take
The Mongoose is one of the more intriguing upcoming titles in this group because its appeal depends heavily on the combination of its cast, premise, and tone. With its release still ahead, the most interesting question is how the film will balance its dramatic material with the larger genre elements suggested by its marketing.
At this stage, the cast and creative team provide the strongest reason to keep the movie on the radar. The film has the opportunity to become something more distinctive than a standard genre release if the character work is given as much attention as the plot mechanics.
We will reserve a final ShowBiz verdict until audiences have had the opportunity to see the finished film. For now, The Mongoose is a title worth watching as its release gets closer.
