Miley Cyrus is back at the summit of the albums chart for the first time in more than a decade, while Ella Langley continues her record-setting reign on the Hot 100.

“Bass Persuades,” Cyrus’ latest album, enters the albums chart at No. 1 with 61,000 equivalent album units. The singer is using the mononym Miley for the project’s current era.

The victory came in an unusually close three-way contest. Langley’s “Dandelion” holds at No. 2 with nearly 61,000 units, while Riley Green follows at No. 3 after “That’s Just Me” earned 60,000 units.

“Bass Persuades” is Cyrus’ sixth album to top the chart and her 16th project to reach its top 10. Her previous No. 1 was “Bangerz” in 2013.

She is also the third act in 2026 to return to No. 1 after a gap of at least a decade. Bruno Mars achieved the distinction with “The Romantic” in March, following A$AP Rocky’s January chart-topper “Don’t Be Dumb.”

Ella Langley extends her historic singles run

Although “Dandelion” narrowly missed the albums crown, Langley remains firmly in control of the Hot 100. Her single “Choosin’ Texas” has secured a 24th week at No. 1.

The latest chart frame extends the record Langley broke one week earlier, when “Choosin’ Texas” surpassed the run achieved by Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You” for the most weeks atop the Hot 100.

Langley has added another benchmark with the song’s performance on the Digital Song Sales chart. “Choosin’ Texas” has now spent 19 weeks at No. 1 there, setting the record for the most time in the top position.

“Bass Persuades” arrived after a brief rollout

Cyrus announced “Bass Persuades” in early September, only weeks before the album’s release. She introduced the project by sharing what its title represented to her.

“Music takes hold of us,” she wrote on social media. “We feel it, sing it, sometimes dance to it, let it out and carry on. It is powerful, vulnerable, sweet and strong. Heart full, heartache, every part of life in between. That’s what the title means to me. Thank you for being a part of making my wildest dreams come true. I sincerely hope you love this album.”

The title track and its accompanying video served as the first single. The full album followed on September 18, beginning a release campaign that has now delivered Cyrus another albums-chart leader.

Her next confirmed appearances will bring a rare return to the stage. Cyrus is scheduled to perform a two-night engagement at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on October 16 and 18. Model/Actriz, which is featured on “Bass Persuades,” will appear at both shows as a special guest.

The rest of the albums chart’s top 10

Morgan Wallen’s “I’m the Problem” lands at No. 4, with Olivia Rodrigo’s “You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love” completing the top five.

Noah Kahan takes the No. 6 position with “The Great Divide,” followed by Beabadoobee’s “Pylon” at No. 7 and Jhené Aiko’s “Westside Whimsy” at No. 8. Drake’s “Iceman” ranks ninth, while Kahan earns a second place in the top 10 as “Stick Season” closes out the list at No. 10.

What Happens Next?

With “Bass Persuades” now leading the albums chart, Cyrus’ next scheduled milestone is the pair of October Hollywood Bowl performances. Langley, meanwhile, heads into another chart week with “Choosin’ Texas” already holding the Hot 100 record at 24 weeks and the Digital Song Sales record at 19 weeks.
