Jason Sudeikis is open to keeping Ted Lasso going beyond its fourth season, but he is making no promises about Seasons 5 or 6.
The actor and show co-creator addressed the series’ possible future during a recent appearance on the Talk Easy with Sam Fragoso podcast. Asked about making additional seasons, Sudeikis said he “would like to,” while emphasizing the collaborative effort required to continue.
“It takes a village,” he said.
Sudeikis also sounded cautiously optimistic when host Sam Fragoso asked whether Apple might be receptive to more Ted Lasso. “I would assume so,” he replied.
That optimism did not amount to confirmation. When pressed on whether the show will actually continue beyond Season 4, Sudeikis acknowledged that its future remains uncertain.
“I just don’t know,” he said, adding, “We haven’t started a writers’ room or anything like that.”
Season 4 Already Changed the Endgame
The possibility of further episodes carries particular weight because Sudeikis previously believed Ted Lasso would finish with Season 3. The show ultimately continued into a fourth season despite that earlier expectation.
Fragoso noted that Sudeikis did not initially have a concept for Season 4 and was creatively depleted at the time. The host then asked whether the same kind of process might eventually lead to two more installments.
Sudeikis answered with a joke: “Um, we’re going to need a bigger cup.”
Still, he did not close the door. Sudeikis recalled that, following the hiatus after Season 3, the familiar characters’ voices began returning to him. The creative picture then expanded.
“Other new voices started to show up,” he said.
Those voices belonged to the women on the team in Season 3. His comments suggest that the characters themselves helped reopen a creative path after he had once viewed the third season as the series’ endpoint.
As for the prospect of revisiting that world again after Season 4, Sudeikis offered a simple indication of his interest: “I think it’d be fun.”
ShowBiz Take
Sudeikis’ remarks matter because they separate personal enthusiasm from an active plan. He would like to make more Ted Lasso, and he assumes Apple could be open to the idea, but neither point establishes that Seasons 5 and 6 are moving forward.
The clearest status update is also the most grounded one: there is no writers’ room underway. That means the conversation is currently about possibility rather than a defined continuation.
At the same time, Season 4 offers a reason not to treat the end of the series as settled. Sudeikis once expected the story to stop after Season 3, only for new character voices and ideas to emerge following a period of creative exhaustion. His latest comments leave room for that process to happen again, even if he is not yet saying that it will.
The “village” comment is equally important. Sudeikis framed any continuation as something that would require more than his own willingness. For now, his interest is clear, but the practical and creative work needed for additional seasons has not begun.
What Happens Next?
No fifth- or sixth-season plan was confirmed during the conversation, and Sudeikis did not offer a timeline for deciding whether to continue. With no writers’ room started, the show’s future beyond Season 4 remains unresolved.
What has changed is the tone around that future. Sudeikis is not ruling out more episodes. After already moving past an intended Season 3 conclusion, he is once again leaving the door open — provided the creative voices return and the wider team is ready to build something from them.
