Hollywood stars continue to get more daring with their red-carpet stunts. Timothée Chalamet rode a Lime e-bike into the London premiere of A Complete Unknown. Emma Stone filled her dress pockets with popcorn at SNL50: The Anniversary Special. And since method dressing seems to show no signs of slowing down, Jacob Elordi decided to wink to the title of his forthcoming film, The Dog Stars, not by dressing like a survivalist like costar Margaret Qualley, but rather in the most literal way possible: by bringing an actual pup onto the red carpet in London.
Yes, the Oscar-nominated star arrived to the world premiere of his latest film with what appeared to be a Belgian Malinois, who posed right alongside Elordi on the red carpet. Named Rak Jasper, this canine is one of the three actor dogs who appear in the movie, and he’s clearly trained well beyond the standard of just “sit.”
For the premiere, Elordi looked like the essence of Old Hollywood in a classic double-breasted suit in navy pinstripe. Styled by Wendi Ferreira and Nicole DeJulio, Elordi’s set was layered over a white dress shirt and matching dark-blue tie, and it was completed with a pair of black patent-leather loafers. Like a true heartthrob, he accessorized with little silver hoop earrings. Oh, and his mullet and mustache that have been going strong since the Wuthering Heights press tour were also on full display.
The Dog Stars is based on Peter Heller’s 2012 novel of the same name, a post-apocalyptic tale that follows two men who are some of the last survivors on Earth after an influenza wipes out most of the human population. They spend their days at an abandoned airport, where they are accompanied by an aging dog named Jasper.
It seems that both in fiction and on the red carpet, dogs really are man’s best friend.
