The footage debuted Friday, Oct. 2, during San Diego Comic-Con Málaga in Spain. Presented to more than 3,000 fans in Hall M, the preview introduced the show’s central mythology, characters and music.
That music includes “Vamos, Vamos, Vamos,” the series’ theme song recorded by Luck Ra. The track by the four-time Argentina Hot 100 chart-topper is featured in the newly unveiled teaser.
A Young Hero Takes on a World of Giants
Messi and the Giants centers on Leo, a 12-year-old boy who finds himself trapped in an alternate reality controlled by giants. His journey home requires him to enter dangerous, soccer-like competitions powered by “orbs,” confront legendary giants and repair the divided realms of Iko.
Leo faces the challenge without an ability that others in this world possess: He cannot use its code powers to enhance his game. Instead, he must depend on skill, teamwork and determination as he navigates the competition.
The story is positioned as an underdog adventure built around courage, perseverance and self-belief. Argentinian actor Milo Burgess-Webb will provide Leo’s voice.
The Comic-Con Málaga panel brought together several of the people behind the project. Executive producers Lacey Stanton and Bryan Korn of Sony Pictures Television appeared alongside Atlantis Studios director Dan Creteur and Sony Music Vision’s Sergi Reitg.
The Team Behind the Animated Series
The show’s roster of executive producers spans its television, music and creative partners. Kurt Mueller, Bryan Korn, Lacey Stanton and Guy Toubes serve as executive producers for Sony Pictures Television. Afo Verde represents Sony Music Latin Iberia, while Tom Mackay and Sergi Reitg serve in the same capacity for Sony Music Vision.
Messi is also an executive producer, along with Jorge Messi Pérez, who is credited in memoriam. Atlantis Animation is overseeing the series’ animation.
The teaser marks the first public look at how the project will combine competitive sports elements with its alternate-reality setting. Rather than giving Leo access to the supernatural advantages available to those around him, the series makes his own abilities and his work with others central to the action.
What Happens Next?
Messi and the Giants is scheduled to premiere worldwide on Disney+ in summer 2027. Disney Channel is also set to air the animated series in the United States.
