The 2026 Emmys winners list is beginning to fill in, with Jean Smart, Kate O’Flynn, Betty Gilpin and Rob Reiner among the comedy performers already marked as winners in the current update.
Smart won lead actress in a comedy for “Hacks,” prevailing in a category that also included Quinta Brunson for “Abbott Elementary,” Ayo Edebiri for “The Bear,” Elle Fanning for “Margo’s Got Money Troubles” and Lisa Kudrow for “The Comeback.”
O’Flynn was named supporting actress in a comedy for “Widow’s Bay.” Her category included Dale Dickey, also for “Widow’s Bay,” Hannah Einbinder and Megan Stalter for “Hacks,” Janelle James for “Abbott Elementary,” Michelle Pfeiffer for “Margo’s Got Money Troubles” and Jessica Williams for “Shrinking.”
In the guest comedy races, Gilpin won guest actress in a comedy for “Widow’s Bay,” while Reiner won guest actor in a comedy for “The Bear.” Gilpin’s fellow nominees were Leslie Bibb, Cherry Jones, Laurie Metcalf, Kaitlin Olson and Lauren Weedman for “Hacks,” plus Jamie Lee Curtis for “The Bear.” Reiner’s category included Michael J. Fox and Brett Goldstein for “Shrinking,” Hamish Linklater for “Widow’s Bay,” Christopher McDonald for “Hacks” and Connor Storrie for “Saturday Night Live.”
Comedy Series Race Still Awaiting a Winner
The outstanding comedy field currently lists eight series: “Abbott Elementary” on ABC, “The Bear” on Hulu, “Hacks” on HBO Max, “Margo’s Got Money Troubles” on Apple TV, “Nobody Wants This” on Netflix, “Only Murders in the Building” on Hulu, “Shrinking” on Apple TV and “Widow’s Bay” on Apple TV. No winner is marked yet in the current outstanding comedy listing.
The lead actor in a comedy category is also still without a winner in the current update. The nominees are Yahya Abdul-Mateen II for “Wonder Man,” Steve Carell for “Rooster,” Matthew Rhys for “Widow’s Bay,” Jason Segel for “Shrinking” and Martin Short for “Only Murders in the Building.”
The supporting actor in a comedy category likewise remains unmarked for a winner in the current list. Nominees include Colman Domingo for “The Four Seasons,” Paul W. Downs for “Hacks,” Harrison Ford and Michael Urie for “Shrinking,” Nick Offerman for “Margo’s Got Money Troubles,” Stephen Root for “Widow’s Bay” and Tyler James Williams for “Abbott Elementary.”
Directing and Writing Categories
The directing race for comedy features Randall Einhorn for the “Abbott Elementary” episode “Ballgame,” Christopher Storer for the “The Bear” episode “Bears,” Andrew DeYoung for “The Chair Company” episode “Life Goes By Too F**king Fast, It Really Does,” Lucia Aniello for “Hacks” with “Hacks [Finale],” Mary Lou Belli for “The Ms. Pat Show” episode “Give It Arrest” and Hiro Murai for “Widow’s Bay” with “Welcome to Widow’s Bay!” No winner is currently identified in that category.
The writing category also remains without a marked winner in the present update. The nominees are Quinta Brunson for “Abbott Elementary” with “Team Building,” Tim Robinson and Zach Kanin for “The Chair Company” with “Life Goes By Too F**king Fast, It Really Does,” Michael Patrick King and Lisa Kudrow for “The Comeback” with “Valerie Does It All,” Lucia Aniello, Paul W.
