2 min readThe Duke and Duchess of Sussex headed back to Canada this week—and they brought a piece of Princess Diana with them.
Last night, Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan showed up in Victoria, British Columbia to attend the David Foster Foundation’s 40th anniversary celebration. For the rare red-carpet date night, Meghan wore a black, asymmetrical gown with a one-shoulder cape neckline and floor-length skirt. A leg slit and long trailing train added a bit of drama to the piece, which the duchess paired with black high heels.
For jewelry, she selected special pair of diamond-and-sapphire earrings, which once belonged to her late mother-in-law. The sparkling studs were on full display, thanks to Meghan’s slicked-back bun, and the royal added a simple gold bracelet and delicate matching ring to top things off.
As for her husband, the prince kept things timeless with a classic black tuxedo—bowtie and all.
The royal couple were all smiles as they stopped for photos with Grammy-winning producer David Foster and his wife, actor Katharine McPhee, who is a longtime friend of the duchess’. The evening celebrated the foundation’s past four decades of life-saving work supporting Canadian families with children in need of organ transplants.
The night also marked somewhat of a homecoming for Meghan, who spent several years living in Toronto while filming Suits. She introduced her adopted home country to Harry back in 2020, when the couple resided privately on Vancouver Island after they left England. Though they ultimately settled in California, they have returned to Canada several times, namely for the prince’s Invictus Games in 2025.
