Drake gave Karol G’s Houston audience an unexpected crossover moment on Sunday, Sept. 27, making a surprise appearance during her concert to perform his 2016 hit “One Dance.”
Fan-shot clips captured Drake and Karol G onstage together, both dressed in black. Drake took the mic for the song while Karol G danced beside him, before the pair moved in close as the crowd erupted.
The unannounced performance adds another chapter to a growing series of public moments between the two stars, who released their joint single “Ahí” in August.
From a Jumbotron appearance to a chart-topping collaboration
Drake had previously attended Karol G’s Toronto concert in July, where he appeared on the venue’s Jumbotron. Before joining forces with her on record, he also referenced Karol G in “New Bestie,” a track from his 2026 project Maid of Honour.
That connection moved into collaboration with “Ahí,” which arrived in August and quickly made an impact on the Latin charts. The single entered Hot Latin Songs at No. 1, becoming Drake’s fourth leader on that chart.
“Ahí” also delivered a new career first for Drake by reaching No. 1 on Hot Latin Rhythm Songs, a ranking he had not previously topped.
The Houston surprise brought the pair together again, this time with one of Drake’s most significant hits at the center of the moment.
“One Dance” returns for another surprise set
Released in 2016, “One Dance” features Nigerian star Wizkid and British singer Kyla. The track became Drake’s first Hot 100 No. 1 as a lead artist and remained at the top of the chart for 10 weeks.
It also held the distinction of being the most-streamed song in Spotify history for years. Since its release, “One Dance” has become a recurring selection during Drake’s unannounced guest appearances.
Last year, he included the song in another surprise performance, taking the stage during Vybz Kartel’s Toronto concert.
Its latest return came during a major period for Karol G, whose recent albums and live appearances have continued to deliver significant chart and career milestones.
Karol G’s milestone-filled run
The Medellín-born artist became the first Latina to headline Coachella earlier this year. Her 2023 album, Mañana Será Bonito, also made history as the first all-Spanish-language album by a woman to debut at No. 1 on the 200 albums chart.
She followed that achievement with Tropicoqueta in 2025. The album debuted at No. 3 on the 200 albums chart.
In July, Karol G announced her latest album, No Me Arrepiento de Sentir Tanto, extending a run that has positioned her as the most commercially dominant woman in Latin music.
Against that backdrop, Drake’s Houston cameo connected their recent collaborative success with one of his defining chart hits — and gave Karol G’s crowd a performance that had not been announced in advance.
