“Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2027” is expanding its reach, with Disney+ set to carry the celebration live for the first time alongside its traditional ABC broadcast.
ABC and Dick Clark Productions announced the simulcast Wednesday, giving viewers the option to watch the annual special through either the broadcast network or the streaming platform.
Ryan Seacrest will return as host, joined in New York’s Times Square by co-host Rita Ora, the singer and “The Masked Singer” panelist.
The 2027 edition will also bring back Julianne Hough and Rob Gronkowski for pre-taped performances from Las Vegas. Comedian and creator Druski will take part from Chicago.
The show’s performers and other additional details have not yet been revealed. Those announcements are expected at a later date.
A record-setting 2026 edition
The move to Disney+ follows a major expansion for the 2026 “New Year’s Rockin’ Eve,” which ran for eight hours. That made it the longest telecast in the program’s history of more than 50 years.
The special featured 42 performers and four live countdown celebrations. Performances came from Times Square, Las Vegas, Chicago, Puerto Rico, Nashville, Kansas City and additional locations.
Diana Ross appeared in Times Square, while the wider lineup included 4 Non Blondes, 50 Cent, AJR, The All-American Rejects, BigXthaPlug, Chance the Rapper, Chappell Roan, Charlie Puth, Ciara, Daddy Yankee, Demi Lovato, Goo Goo Dolls, Jess Glynne, Jessie Murph, Jordan Davis, Le Sserafim, Leon Thomas, Little Big Town, Madison Beer, Maren Morris, Mariah Carey, New Kids on the Block, OneRepublic, Pitbull, Post Malone, Rick Springfield, Russell Dickerson, Tucker Wetmore and Zara Larsson.
Other appearances included DJ Cassidy’s “Pass The Mic Live!” with Busta Rhymes, T.I. and Wyclef Jean.
The 2026 special delivered the franchise’s strongest ratings in four years. Live-plus-three-day figures showed that 30.01 million viewers were watching at midnight as 2025 became 2026.
Across the key period from 11:30 p.m. ET to 12:28 a.m. ET, the telecast averaged 19.606 million viewers and earned a 5.00 rating among adults ages 18 to 49.
That edition was also simulcast on iHeartRadio, reaching 2 million listeners across nearly 150 stations. Its radio audience increased 9% from the previous year.
What Happens Next?
Dick Clark Productions will produce “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2027.” Seacrest, Michael Dempsey, Jay Penske and Barry Adelman are the executive producers.
With Seacrest, Ora, Hough, Gronkowski and Druski confirmed, the remaining major question is which performers will join the first edition to stream simultaneously on Disney+. The lineup and further broadcast details will be announced later.
