The official trailer introduces Cox as Don Frampt, known as the New York Ripper, a serial killer who terrorized the city years earlier. Stevens plays Owen Stark, the Five Borough Killer and another major Season 2 antagonist.
The series will return to Paramount+ on October 30, with Dexter facing the two very different threats while also confronting an unexpected personal problem: a midlife crisis.
Dexter Is Caught Between Two Killers
Under showrunner and executive producer Clyde Phillips, Season 2 places Dexter between a murderer with decades of notoriety and a long history of killing, and a younger figure whose crimes are terrorizing New York in unprecedented ways.
Frampt brings a reputation built over many years, while Stark emerges as a fresh threat to the city. Their arrival leaves Dexter dealing with two separate killers at the same time his own sense of direction is being tested.
Dexter’s family story will remain central as well. Harrison, played by Jack Alcott, continues his pursuit of justice, with father and son heading into what is described as their darkest chapter yet.
The season will not limit its serial-killer storyline to Frampt and Stark. Gabriel Luna will play Ray Ballard, another killer who operates under the name the Sleepy-Eyed Stranger. Ballard is set to become the third serial killer highlighted during the new season.
Krysten Ritter’s Return Raises Questions
Krysten Ritter is also returning as Mia LaPierre, otherwise known as Lady Vengeance, although the nature of her appearance has not been confirmed.
Her comeback has prompted speculation that Mia may still be alive, but another possibility is that the character could appear as a ghost. Neither explanation has been established, leaving Ritter’s role as one of Season 2’s unresolved mysteries.
Desmond Harrington will have a significantly expanded presence as Joey Quinn. After appearing briefly during the first season of Dexter: Resurrection, Harrington has been elevated to series-regular status for Season 2.
The cast will also add Bokeem Woodbine as Capt. Mixon and Nona Parker Johnson as Fiona Mixon. Returning cast members include Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine, Kadia Saraf, Dominic Fumusa, James Remar and Alcott, alongside Hall.
What Happens Next?
When Dexter: Resurrection returns on October 30, Dexter will be forced to navigate Frampt’s long and deadly history, Stark’s new reign of terror and Ballard’s emergence as the Sleepy-Eyed Stranger. At the same time, Harrison’s pursuit of justice and Dexter’s midlife crisis will put additional pressure on the father-son relationship.
Ritter’s still-undisclosed role adds another question to the season, while Harrington’s promotion signals a larger storyline for Joey Quinn. With three killers in play and multiple returning characters, the second season is positioning Dexter’s personal turmoil alongside a widening set of threats in New York.
