“Daredevil: Born Again” is expected to conclude with its upcoming third season on Disney+, bringing Matt Murdock’s latest vigilante chapter to a close. Confirmation from Disney+ was still pending.
The planned ending comes with a significant behind-the-scenes change. Dario Scardapane, who created the Marvel television revival, is stepping down as showrunner after his contract with Marvel was not renewed.
Scardapane is departing while Season 3 is in the middle of post-production. It remains unclear who will oversee the series through its completion.
A revival built around familiar heroes and foes
“Daredevil: Born Again” revived the story of Netflix’s “Daredevil,” which completed a three-season run in 2018. Charlie Cox returned as Matt Murdock, the blind attorney who fights crime as the superhero Daredevil.
Vincent D’Onofrio also reprised his role as Murdock’s arch-nemesis Wilson Fisk, also known as the Kingpin, while Deborah Ann Woll returned as Karen Page.
Elden Henson came back as Foggy, although the character was killed in the “Born Again” series premiere. The show expanded its roster of returning Marvel television characters in Season 2, when Krysten Ritter joined the cast again as Jessica Jones.
The revival made its Disney+ debut in 2025, seven years after the original “Daredevil” series ended on Netflix. Season 2 arrived on the streaming service in March.
Marvel Studios confirmed last fall that “Daredevil: Born Again” would return for Season 3. That renewal will now serve as the show’s final season rather than the beginning of a longer run.
What Happens Next?
The third and final season is expected to premiere next year. With Scardapane leaving during post-production, the immediate unanswered question is who will take responsibility for guiding the remaining work and seeing the Disney+ series through to its conclusion.
