2 min readLast night, the Spanish royal family came together to cheer on their national football team at the FIFA World Cup semi-finals; and luckily for them, Spain brought home the win. Hours later, King Felipe VI, Queen Letizia, and their two daughters, Crown Princess Leonor and Princess Sofía, resumed their royal engagements in high spirits.
This morning, the family came together to visit the Empúries archaeological site—the most important Greek archaeological site to be found in Spain—alongside a group of young participants from the Princess of Girona Foundation’s programs. (The organization supports youth development, career mentoring, and educational innovation. It is partly led by Leonor, who gave a moving speech at the Princess of Girona Awards just yesterday.)
For the day out in the archaeological site on the Costa Brava in Catalonia, Spain, the 20-year-old royal—undeterred by the dusty terrain—reached for a pristine white summer outfit. The monochrome pieces were a silky top, flowy, wide pants, and espadrille wedges. To liven up the look, she then layered on a pretty linen blazer in a bright hot pink. The future queen of Spain took a cue from her mom, Letizia, as she complemented her ensemble with a subtle rosy smoky eye and funky jewelry, including sculptural, abstract gold earrings paired with little diamond studs, plus several gold and diamond rings.
Like Leonor, mom Letizia and sister Sofía, 19, also wore espadrille wedges. The queen paired hers with a breezy cream dress with a linear flower print, while Sofía opted for an asymmetric white top and airy sky-blue pants.
