Jay-Z turned his Los Angeles tour return into a family affair when Blue Ivy Carter joined him at SoFi Stadium on Friday, Oct. 23, 2026.
Blue Ivy played keys during two selections from her father’s 33-song set: “The Story of O.J.,” from 4:44, and “Dead Presidents,” from Reasonable Doubt.
The concert opened Jay-Z’s two-night SoFi engagement, part of JAY-Z30, a celebration marking 30 years since the release of his debut album, Reasonable Doubt. Although the Los Angeles guest list was not as extensive as the lineup assembled for his Yankee Stadium shows, the first night still brought several notable appearances.
A closing collaboration with John Legend and DJ Khaled
John Legend and DJ Khaled joined Jay-Z for the final song of the night, “God Did,” the title track from DJ Khaled’s album of the same name.
Scarface also appeared during the show, performing “This Can’t Be Life” from The Dynasty: Roc La Familia with Jay-Z. The pair additionally delivered the Geto Boys’ “Mind Playing Tricks on Me,” from We Can’t Be Stopped.
The surprise guests gave the SoFi kickoff a collaborative shape while allowing the anniversary theme to remain central. Blue Ivy’s two-song contribution connected material from 4:44 with “Dead Presidents” from the album at the heart of the JAY-Z30 celebration.
The audience included more familiar names. Kelly Rowland, Michelle Williams, G-Eazy, Tia Mowry and Omari Hardwick were among those in attendance on Friday night.
Los Angeles follows shows in New York, Paris and London
Jay-Z’s weekend at SoFi came after three New York City concerts in July, where Beyoncé, Rihanna, Eminem, Alicia Keys and Nas were among the performers welcomed to the stage. Shows in Paris and London also preceded the Los Angeles engagement.
Another recent project arrived in September, when Jay-Z released the JAY-Z in 8 docuseries with Rick Rubin on HBO Max.
The SoFi stop also landed amid unconfirmed speculation involving the same venue. Chatter earlier in the week suggested that Jay-Z could recommend himself as the headlining performer for next year’s Super Bowl LXI Halftime Show, which is also scheduled to take place at SoFi Stadium.
If Jay-Z ultimately headlines the halftime show, it would mark his first appearance on the Super Bowl stage in a career spanning more than 30 years. However, that possibility remained unconfirmed as of Saturday afternoon.
ShowBiz Take
Blue Ivy’s appearance was more than a quick walk-on. By taking the keys for two songs drawn from different Jay-Z albums, she became part of the musical presentation during a concert built around his three-decade milestone.
The night also balanced celebration and continuity. “Dead Presidents” brought the focus back to Reasonable Doubt, while Scarface, DJ Khaled and John Legend helped broaden the set with collaborations connected to other albums and eras.
That combination made the Los Angeles kickoff significant on its own, regardless of the Super Bowl rumors surrounding Jay-Z and SoFi Stadium. The confirmed story was already substantial: a 33-song return featuring Blue Ivy at the keyboard, Scarface on two tracks, and Legend and Khaled helping close the show.
What Happens Next?
Jay-Z was set to return to the SoFi Stadium stage for the second night of the engagement on Saturday. Whether that performance would bring additional surprise guests was not confirmed.
The Super Bowl LXI speculation also remained unresolved. For now, Jay-Z’s only confirmed SoFi spotlight was his two-night JAY-Z30 concert run.
