The Clooneys have officially touched down in Venice!
Tomorrow, Hollywood stalwart George Clooney is set to receive the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement award during the 2026 Venice Film Festival’s grand opening ceremony. And ahead of the big soirée, he and wife, Amal Clooney, were spotted arriving in the dreamy Italian city, zipping down the canals in one of those signature wooden boats. (Because are you even in Venice if you didn’t take a ride in one?).
While tomorrow’s official event is sure to deliver a glamorous style moment from the couple worthy of one of the most-watched red carpets—they are no strangers to nailing a formal outing together, after all—the Clooneys kicked off Venice in a more laid-back register. But just because they were off-duty didn’t mean that their ensembles were any less refined.

Amal donned an olive-green three-piece skirt suit, complete with a satiny finish and extra-short mini skirt. The total look was courtesy of Tom Ford by Haider Ackermann—just a day after Celine Dion wore a similarly-hued jacket by the label. George, meanwhile, kept it subtle in his navy polo shirt, white trousers, and belt to match. The coordinated color palettes were totally on-point—complementary, without being too matchy-matchy. In other words, molto italiano.
George and Amal have a long history of serving up high-impact glamor while in Venice. Last year, for one, there was the unforgettable magenta gown (vintage Jean-Louis Scherrer) that Amal wore to George’s Jay Kelly premiere. In 2024, she donned a butter-yellow corseted Versace gown—with George always by her side in a classic tuxedo. Clearly, this year, the Clooneys are going for it with eye-catching fashions again. Start placing your bets now on what they will wear for the main event tomorrow. Perhaps Amal will follow in Nicole Kidman’s footsteps and wear another Pieter Mulier-for-Versace debut number? It is one of her go-to brands, after all. Only time will tell.
