If you ever need inspiration for your vacation wardrobe, look no further than the Clooneys. Since Amal and George spend a majority of their summers on their idyllic estate in Lake Como, Italy, they’ve had a bit of practice when it comes to mastering coastal fashion. And they proved yet again that they’re a stylish, well-suited pair as they were seen heading to the luxury 18th century hotel Villa Passalacqua on Thursday evening.
Historically, Amal has been the reigning champion of European date-night style, whether she’s sporting feathery lemon-yellow minidresses or floral-printed vintage Dior slips. But this time around, the Lebanese-British barrister took it back to the basics, with a classic white maxi dress with a plunging, V-shaped neckline and spaghetti shoulder straps.
She let the dress be the star of the show, accessorizing with only a few chunky bangles and some pendant earrings, while carrying a couple of white flowers as a romantic complement. She also slipped into a set of silver, knotty Muse sandals from Gianvito Rossi, while her hair hung down in soft, sea-blown waves.
George, meanwhile, was the perfect suave counterpart in his own white-toned ensemble. He wore a form-fitting short-sleeve shirt in alabaster, which he tucked into a pair of belted white dress pants, and he completed the entire fit with suede penny loafers and a pair of thin-framed eyeglasses.
To wear an all-white outfit somewhere like the Hamptons has become, well, routine and uninspired. To do it in Lake Como? Now, that’s just effortlessly chic.
