2 min readWhen photos of Karlie Kloss making her way to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding dropped, the internet—or Swifties, in particular—nearly broke. Wearing a gold strapless silk dress from Tove, the model headed to Madison Square Garden with her husband, Joshua Kushner, for the 1,000-person nuptials of her (presumed) former best friend. And ever since, it’s been feeling a lot like 2014.
Over the weekend, Kloss attended Jay-Z’s Yankee Stadium show with one of Swift’s close friends, Este Haim—seemingly confirming that she’s back in the squad. They were joined by Kushner and Haim’s husband, Jonathan Levin, for the double date.
One of the most talked about friendships in 2010s pop culture, Kloss and Swift connected back in 2012 when the “Love Story” singer told Vogue that she wanted to bake cookies with Kloss. Shortly after, the model tweeted her response, asking, “Your kitchen or mine? :).”
By early 2014, Swift and Kloss seemed to be inseparable. They took road trips, had girls’ nights at dozens of New York City spots, and did their makeup together for the Met Gala. They attended Knicks games and award shows, teamed up at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, and gushed about one another in interviews. Kloss appeared in the “Bad Blood” music video and on stage at the 1989 tour. Swift even revealed to Rolling Stone that she had a guest bedroom in her home, stacked with her friend’s favorite snacks.
The two seemed to drift from 2017 onwards, and in 2019, Swift didn’t attend either of Kloss’s two weddings. Speculation rose that the cause for the shift was due to the model’s working relationship with Scooter Braun, the music exec who purchased the rights to Swift’s first six albums in 2019, against her will.
