Alison Krauss & Union Station have canceled upcoming dates on their Arcadia Tour after Krauss was advised by medical professionals to take vocal rest.
The group announced the cancellations in a social media post on Sept. 10, saying the decision followed medical guidance for the lead vocalist. “It is with great regret that Alison Krauss and Union Station have announced the cancellation of our upcoming tour dates,” the statement read. “After consulting with medical professionals, Alison has been advised to take a period of vocal rest to ensure a full and healthy recovery.”
The announcement affects more than a dozen scheduled performances, beginning with a Sept. 11 concert in Davenport, Iowa. Also canceled are three planned shows at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium on Sept. 18-20, along with dates in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Missouri, Texas, Oklahoma, Arizona, Nevada and California through early October.
In the statement, the group emphasized that the move was not taken casually. “This decision was not made lightly as we are deeply committed to our fans,” the post continued. “However, prioritizing health and vocal integrity are imperative at this time…we hope to make it back to these cities in the near future.”
Tickets for all canceled shows will be fully refunded. Fans with questions have been advised to contact their original point of purchase.
A Tour Pause After Arcadia
The cancellations come during the group’s Arcadia Tour, named for Arcadia, the album Alison Krauss & Union Station released last year. The project marked the group’s first album in nearly 14 years.
The tour interruption also arrives as the group heads into a notable awards season moment. Alison Krauss & Union Station are nominated for entertainer of the year at the upcoming IBMA Bluegrass Music Awards in October. The group is also up for vocal group of the year.
Krauss is nominated for female vocalist of the year, while several Union Station members are also recognized in individual categories. Barry Bales is nominated for bass player of the year, Jerry Douglas for resophonic guitar player of the year, Ron Block for banjo player of the year and Russell Moore for male vocalist of the year.
