The 83rd Venice Film Festival is here, and its red-carpet royalty has already arrived. George and Amal Clooney kicked off the evening as they made their grand entrance at Sala Grande in pristine black-tie looks.
The British barrister was pure, unfiltered sophistication in a ruched black column dress custom-made by Haider Ackermann for Tom Ford. The piece had barely-there shoulder straps—two which held up the piece on Amal, and two which dropped down from her shoulder to her arm, adding to the effortless glamour of it all.
A high slit on the back of the skirt broke up the floor-length gown and let Amal’s pointy black patent-leather stilettos steal the show.
Diamond-and-emerald earrings dangled from the human rights lawyer’s ears, and a matching ring sparkled on her finger. A fabulous diamond bracelet sparkled on her wrist as she held her sleek black leather envelope clutch.
Amal’s famous brunette hair with golden highlights was styled down in her classic voluminous, wavy ’do, and she wore her go-to rosy smoky eye.
George looked like a true Hollywood superstar in his silky, polished black tuxedo and bowtie as he entered the event with his wife.
The actor is the man of the hour at tonight’s opening ceremony. He will be awarded the festival’s highest individual honor, the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement, for his incredible contributions to the film industry over the years. His Jay Kelly costar Laura Dern is set to deliver the Laudatio speech and formally present him with the prestigious prize.
