The lovebirds, who originally met back in 2015 when Álvarez joined Grande’s Honeymoon Tour as a backup dancer, reconnected this past June—and have been seen enjoying a whirlwind summer romance ever since. But while their original relationship ended just a year after it began, this time, they’re hoping for forever. Or at least that’s what Grande implied last night on the final stop on her Eternal Sunshine Tour.
In the original studio recording of her 2018 ode to her ex-boyfriends, “Thank U, Next,” the artist sang of Álvarez between fellow exes Big Sean and Pete Davidson, with lyrics that go: “Wrote some songs about Ricky, now I listen and laugh.” Throughout her 2026 tour, she has been switching up the line, teasing her rekindled romance with the dancer from show to show. On June 26, she changed the lyrics to, “Wrote some songs about Ricky, I know he still got my back,” and on July 13, she rewrote them once more, singing, “Wrote some songs about Ricky, we always find our way back.”
Now, on the final night of her tour, in London, she declared, “Wrote some songs about Ricky, I’m tryna make him my last.” Fans were quick to jump to conclusions, convinced that Grande was teasing a possible engagement between the two. Who knows, maybe next time she takes a stage, she’ll be singing, “Wrote some songs about Ricky, now we’re married at last!” Just guessing.
