2 min readDaisy Edgar-Jones just made us even more excited for Sense and Sensibility. Soft-launching her press tour style, the actor stepped out on Thursday, July 16 in a voluminous look that sent a subtle nod to 18th century England.
Instantly recognizable as a Vivienne Westwood piece, Edgar-Jones’s Fall 2026 gown merged the house’s signature codes with something unexpected. It was designed by creative director Andreas Kronthaler with a skin-tight bodice and gathered full skirt—a classic for the British label—but found a playful fresh form through brown-and-tan stripe detailing. The diagonal print covered the entire dress, from the gathered bra cups down to the raw hem. In between, the fabric was cinched at the waist, making for a dramatic, asymmetrical skirt with a thigh-high leg slit and bustle-inspired back.
While Jane Austen’s novels were known for their regency-style dress—empire waists, puff sleeves, and free-flowing silhouettes—this piece was more Victorian-adjacent, pulling from the period that followed Sense and Sensibility. Perhaps she and stylist Dani Michelle are slowly taking us back in time, decade by decade?
Rather than complete the look with its runway counterparts (knit sleeves and slouchy brown boots tied at the knee), the duo paired the gown with pointy white heels. They added sparkling Boucheron jewelry to the equation as well, selecting feather-shaped diamond earrings with drop pearls. Estée Lauder glam finished it all off.
Out on October 16 (September 25 in the United Kingdom), Georgia Oakley’s interpretation of Sense and Sensibility sees Edgar-Jones take on the role of Elinor Dashwood, acting opposite Esmé Creed-Miles, who portrays Marianne Dashwood.
