Disney+ and Hulu have moved the premiere of The Remarried Empress to Nov. 3, giving the Korean fantasy romance an earlier start than previously announced.

The new date places the series’ arrival one day ahead of its original premiere. Cast members Shin Min-a, Ju Ji-hoon, Lee Jong-suk and Lee Se-young announced the change Tuesday during a press conference in Seoul.

Disney framed the early release as a thank-you to fans for their support. Viewers will receive the first four episodes on Nov. 3, while the remainder of the 10-episode season will follow the existing schedule.

Two episodes will be released each Wednesday beginning Nov. 11. The final two installments are set to stream Nov. 25.

A Royal Divorce Drives the Story

Adapted from the hit Naver Webtoon, The Remarried Empress centers on Navier, played by Shin, the empress of the Eastern Empire. Her marriage begins to collapse after her husband, Emperor Sovieshu, falls for Rashta, an escaped slave girl.

Ju plays Sovieshu, with Lee Se-young portraying Rashta. When the emperor asks Navier for a divorce, she agrees — but sets a consequential condition of her own. Navier wants permission to marry Crown Prince Heinrey, played by Lee Jong-suk, her emerging love interest from the rival Western Kingdom.

The premise combines palace maneuvering, romantic betrayal and Navier’s determination to take control of her future. Its central divorce-and-remarriage conflict also places all four principal characters at the heart of the show’s royal power struggle.

Yeoh Geena and Hyun Choongyeol adapted the webtoon for television. Cho Suwon directed the series; his listed credits include Still 17 and Pinocchio.

Strong Interest Ahead of the Premiere

The accelerated launch comes after sold-out preview screenings at the Busan International Film Festival in October.

Disney also reported significant online attention for the adaptation. According to the company, the trailer accumulated more than 13 million views across YouTube and social media during its first 48 hours.

The source material already has a sizable audience of its own. The original webtoon has generated nearly three billion views, giving the screen version an established fan base before its Disney+ and Hulu debut.

ShowBiz Take

Moving The Remarried Empress forward by only one day may seem like a modest scheduling adjustment, but the release plan makes that change more meaningful: four of the season’s 10 episodes will now be available immediately on Nov. 3.

The decision also arrives with clear evidence of audience interest, from the sold-out Busan screenings to the trailer’s first-48-hour numbers and the webtoon’s multibillion-view reach. By keeping the remaining rollout intact, Disney+ and Hulu can offer fans an earlier opening while preserving the series’ weekly path to the finale.

What Happens Next?

After the four-episode premiere on Nov. 3, The Remarried Empress will continue with two new episodes every Wednesday from Nov. 11. The 10-episode series will conclude when its final pair arrives Nov. 25.
