Broadway’s latest wave of star-led productions delivered a major box-office boost for the week ending October 11, with Other Desert Cities and A Few Good Men selling out their performances.
Other Desert Cities, featuring Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Ed Harris, Allison Janney, Joe Keery and Lily Rabe, collected $2,157,355 across eight sold-out previews at the Hudson. The Jon Robin Baitz play is directed by John Benjamin Hickey and is scheduled to open October 18.
That haul made Other Desert Cities one of only four Broadway productions to cross $2 million for the week. It ranked behind Hamilton, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and The Lion King among the top earners.
Hamilton remained comfortably in first place with $3,090,634 as original cast member Christopher Jackson returned to the company. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child grossed $2,223,679, while The Lion King finished close behind at $2,217,835.
New Arrivals Lift Broadway’s Weekly Total
Across 29 productions, Broadway generated $35,292,434 for the week, a 27% increase from the previous frame, according to figures from The Broadway League. Attendance rose approximately 10% to 248,496, while the overall average ticket price stood at $142.02.
A Few Good Men, Lincoln Center Theater’s nonprofit revival of Aaron Sorkin’s military courtroom drama, began with three sold-out previews and a gross of $555,367. Bradley Whitford stars alongside Tom Blyth and Krysta Rodriguez. The production’s official opening night is Thursday, October 29.
Billy Crystal’s new solo show, 860, also improved its box-office position. The title refers to the address of Crystal’s longtime home, which burned down in the Pacific Palisades fires. Its seven previews at the Imperial grossed $1,173,760, with 92% of seats filled—up from 83% the previous week. Opening night is set for October 21.
Roundabout’s nonprofit production of The Imaginary Invalid, starring Bill Irwin, played to 90% capacity at the Haimes and took in $429,863. It is due to open October 22.
‘Oh, Mary!’ Sets Another Lyceum Record
Oh, Mary! continued its record-breaking run with Bowen Yang in the title role. The Cole Escola comedy earned $1,592,306, setting new weekly records for both the production and the Lyceum.
Since opening July 11, 2024, Oh, Mary! has become the first production in Lyceum history to gross more than $1 million in one week. It has now broken its own house record 15 times.
Chicago was another sellout, grossing $1,163,661 with former Dallas Cowboys cheerleader Reece Weaver appearing as Roxie. Weaver has extended her run through Sunday, November 15.
The week’s complete sellout list comprised A Few Good Men, Chicago, Hadestown, Hamilton, Just in Time, MJ, Oh, Mary! and Other Desert Cities.
Hamilton also commanded Broadway’s highest average ticket price at $287.50. Other Desert Cities followed at $276.87, while the average for Oh, Mary! reached $222.73.
ShowBiz Take
The week’s numbers show the immediate impact of Broadway’s latest infusion of high-profile performers. New productions led by Louis-Dreyfus, Harris, Janney, Keery, Rabe, Whitford and Crystal joined established shows with notable cast additions, helping lift both receipts and attendance sharply from the previous week.
Still, the larger seasonal picture remains more measured. Through the 20th week of the 2026-27 season, Broadway has grossed $628,508,592, approximately 8% below the comparable point last year. Season-to-date attendance stands at 5,155,377, a year-over-year decline of 3%.
That contrast makes the latest results especially significant: a strong week powered by sellouts and $2 million productions has improved the short-term outlook, even as the season continues to trail last year’s cumulative totals.
What Happens Next?
Other Desert Cities will be the first of the featured new arrivals to hold its official opening, on October 18. It will be followed by 860 on October 21, The Imaginary Invalid on October 22 and A Few Good Men on October 29. Their post-opening grosses will reveal whether the momentum from these early previews continues.
