Jhené Aiko has reached a new chart milestone, earning her first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 with “Westside Whimsy.”
The set opens at the top with 74,000 equivalent album units, giving Aiko the first Billboard 200 leader of her career. It also marks a notable moment for R&B on the chart: “Westside Whimsy” is the first R&B album by a woman to hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200 this year, and the first such album to do so since SZA’s “SOS” reached the summit in May 2025.
So far this year, the only other R&B album to top the Billboard 200 has been Bruno Mars’ “The Romantic.”
“Westside Whimsy” arrived with features from Kendrick Lamar, Tyga and Larry June. The rollout was a compact one, with Aiko announcing the project less than a week before its release.
The album is described as Aiko’s fourth record, and it becomes her sixth album to appear on the Billboard 200. Her chart history on the ranking dates back to “Sail Out” in 2013.
Aiko’s latest chart chapter
Before “Westside Whimsy,” Aiko’s most recent album was “Chilombo,” released in 2020. That project debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and went on to earn three Grammy nominations: album of the year, best progressive R&B album and best R&B performance for “Lightning & Thunder.”
With “Westside Whimsy,” Aiko now moves one position higher than the peak of “Chilombo,” securing the top spot for the first time on the Billboard 200.
Her new album is also the only title to debut inside this week’s Billboard 200 top 10.
The rest of the top 10
Ella Langley’s “Dandelion” lands at No. 2, moving roughly 60,000 equivalent album units. Langley is also expected to achieve the longest-running No. 1 on the Hot 100 with “Choosin’ Texas.”
Olivia Rodrigo’s “You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love” sits at No. 3, followed by Morgan Wallen’s “I’m the Problem” at No. 4 and Noah Kahan’s “The Great Divide” at No. 5.
The lower half of the top 10 includes Drake’s “Iceman” at No. 6, Ariana Grande’s “Petal” at No. 7, Rod Wave’s “Don’t Look Down” at No. 8, Olivia Dean’s “The Art of Loving” at No. 9 and Kahan’s “Stick Season” at No. 10.
For Aiko, the week’s chart result delivers a career first and places “Westside Whimsy” at the center of a year in which only a small number of R&B albums have reached the Billboard 200 summit.
