9-1-1: Nashville opened its second season with a personal tribute to Fiona Lowe, the late daughter of the show’s co-executive producer and premiere director, Chad Lowe.

Thursday’s ABC episode, titled “Going Rogue,” concluded with a memorial card featuring Fiona’s photograph. “In loving memory, Fiona Lowe,” the message read before the credits.

Fiona died last month at age 13. Her cause of death was determined to be suicide.

Chad and his wife, Kim Painter, announced their daughter’s death last month, describing Fiona as their “loving young girl.”

“We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona,” the parents said in a statement. “She was adored by her sisters and she was deeply loved by her parents. In fact, she was the light of our lives.”

A Personal Connection to the Season Premiere

The dedication carried particular significance because of Chad’s involvement in the series. In addition to serving as a co-executive producer on the Nashville spin-off, he has directed multiple episodes and was behind the camera for the Season 2 opener itself.

Chad also previously appeared with his real-life brother, Rob Lowe, in 9-1-1: Lone Star.

By placing Fiona’s memorial immediately before the credits, the premiere publicly honored her as the show began its sophomore season. The tribute was concise, centering her name and photograph at the end of an episode her father directed.

ShowBiz Take

The memorial transformed the closing moments of “Going Rogue” into something deeply personal. Chad Lowe’s roles as both co-executive producer and director of the premiere make the dedication inseparable from the episode’s production, while the simple wording kept the focus entirely on Fiona.

It also brought the Lowe family’s devastating loss before the 9-1-1: Nashville audience without going beyond the statement Chad and Painter had already shared about their daughter and how profoundly she was loved by her parents and sisters.
