1 min readPrince Harry has arrived in the United Kingdom—alone. On Monday, the Duke of Sussex touched down in London without wife Duchess Meghan and their two children. His solo journey comes after he and his family spent some time vacationing in Europe. It’s unclear if they will join him later.
Last month, it was widely reported that Harry was intent on taking his wife and kids to England with him. As his son, Archie, 7, and daughter, Lilibet, 5, last visited their father’s home country in 2022, for Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee, the prince was hopeful he would be able to share a piece of his own childhood and culture with them.
But it seems Harry ultimately decided that it was safer to make the journey home alone due to his ongoing complications regarding his security detail in the U.K.
After losing automatic police protection when they stepped back from their senior royal roles in 2020, Harry and Meghan have been in a near-constant dispute with the U.K. government over how they can safely travel to the country as a family. And evidently, the issue has not been solved. Because of this, King Charles III has not seen his grandchildren in four years.
The prince’s upcoming week is filled with scheduled appearances connected to his projects and charities—including the one-year countdown festivities to the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham. And while he was initially invited by his father, the king, to stay at Buckingham Palace, the offer was reportedly withdrawn.
