EXCLUSIVE: Emerging vertical video platform Inverted.Film has picked up Unscripted, a series from RealReelDrama founder Meagan Johnson.
Unscripted with Meagan Johnson is microdrama advocate Johnson’s debut series, and is billed as “the first talk show in the vertical space with top stars one-on-one in different locations.”
The series is billed as an “intentionally cross-platform” show that “exists as a multi-social media experience rather than a traditional standalone production.”
Johnson is known as the founder of RealReelDrama, a platform dedicated to analyzing and exploring the world of vertical dramas. The series will see her blend humor and analysis to unpack vertical video’s tropes, pacing and audience psychology.
“I started RealReelDrama as a place to talk about the wonderfully chaotic world of vertical dramas,” said Johnson. “What surprised me was how quickly the community and industry drew me in. As the space continues to grow, I’ve become a strong advocate for keeping the audience perspective at the center of the conversation.

“Unscripted grew out of a desire to contribute in a way that plays to my strengths while shining a light on the actors, writers, directors, and creators behind these stories – giving audiences a chance to see them beyond the drama.”
The show will sit on Inverted.film, a microdrama app that claims it prioritizes “narrative quality, creator ownership and audience and genre diversity over volume and churn mechanics.” The service gives creators a 70/30 revenue split in a bid to attract significant independent filmmakers.
Launched in 2025 as a web app, Inverted.film offers titles such as Beneath Crimson Sails, Tides of Desire, The Dealership, Sorority Court and Pizza Guys vs Vampires, the latter of which won the Best Indie Vertical of the Year award at this year’s Vertical Drama Love Fans Awards.
In May, an app launched as a venture of Packed House Pictures, an independent production company co-founded by Mat Raney and Jason Kiesel. Raney wrote and co-directed Pizza Guys vs Vampires, which stars Dushant ‘Fikshun’ Stegall, winner of So You Think You Can Dance Season 13. Flashback Pictures was the producer.
Inverted.film is now planning to develop and produce its own content, partnering with indie filmmakers in genres such as comedy, horror, thriller and LGBTQ+.

“We built Inverted for filmmakers who care about story,” said Raney, the platform’s Chief Creative Officer. “The vertical format is the most exciting creative canvas in entertainment right now — but there are far more types of stories and types of audiences that could be enjoying it than currently are. That’s the gap we’re filling.”
Co-founder Kiesel, Inverted.film’s CEO, added: “Inverted isn’t just another microdrama app. It’s a filmmaker’s platform. The creator-friendly split, the curated slate, Unscripted — everything we do is designed to prove that vertical can be prestige.”
